Effective Foundation Repair for Safe, Secure Homes in Allen

Updated: Jul 6

Are you dealing with cracks that showed up in your home’s walls? You’re not alone, because many homeowners in McKinney and the surrounding areas are facing the very same problem. Trust us, we’ve answered so many calls about this!

It’s an unpleasant experience. Who would be happy to see a crack in their wall? You have to face the stress of wondering whether that can be fixed by just re-taping and repainting it, or if it’s a much more serious problem that could be putting your family in danger.

Some small cracks aren’t really a problem. Our homes could get hairline cracks when they settle over time (which is normal). For newer builds, new lumber will dry out and shift, causing tiny cracks. Or when you leave your house for a while, you get cracks in ceilings and walls because there’s no one home to keep the temperature stable.

But there are deeper cracks that are definitely a cause for concern as well as smaller cracks that will eventually lead to bigger problems. Thus, it’s always important to call in a professional for advice, just like this homeowner from Allen, Texas.

Cracks Inside and Out in an Allen Home

A homeowner in Allen was dealing with minor sheetrock cracks inside their house. But that wasn’t the only problem! They also had larger brick cracks on the exterior of their home.

The homeowner called an engineer in, who determined that this problem was probably caused by a few things. The most notable cause was a large Crape Myrtle tree located right at the corner of the house where the cracks were, a large crape Myrtle located right at the corner of the house. Another culprit was poor drainage, as water pooled quite easily near this corner of their home.

Although they did not have any major cracks, the engineer determined it would be better to do some minimal foundation work now. If left for later, the cracks could get worse and they wouldn’t have to just worry about foundation problems—they’d have to spend so much more!

With his engineering report in hand, the homeowner came to us for help. As industry leaders in foundation repair that has helped thousands of clients in the area, our team was up for the job!

PT2 System for Cost-Effective Foundation Repair in Texas

To address the issue, we installed 8 of our PT2 System. This is a rebar enforced concrete pressed piling, the most common type of system used in this metroplex. It’s popular for a good reason, as it is very effective without breaking the bank.

Water in the clay is removed by the trees they have in their yard, which causes a downward movement of the foundation that causes cracks. These piers would help with the settlement so their home would not shift with the heaving clay.

The piers were driven down by our foundation experts, to a more restrictive layer of clay that won't be affected by the seasonal moisture fluctuations near the surface. With that done, all the owner needed to do now was correct the drainage himself to help with the excessive water pooling.

This project took our crew of 3 crew members and 1 crew chief only 1 day to complete! And don’t forget our project manager, whose job is to check in during the beginning, during the lift, and while we’re finishing up to make sure everything was taken care of to plan.

Now, our client in Allen, Texas can get back to enjoying a home that is safe and sound.
